Statuses and WIP stages

The six statuses

Every miniature sits in exactly one of six statuses, and the board shows one column per status, in this order:

• Unbuilt — still in the box, on the sprue, or clipped and waiting.
• Assembled — built, not yet primed.
• Primed — undercoated and ready for paint.
• WIP — paint is going on.
• Painted — finished to your painting standard.
• Complete — based, varnished, done with.

What moves a card

You do — drag a card to another column, or change its status on the unit's own page. Nothing moves on its own.

For a squad of several models, the squad's status is the status of its least-finished model. Five models painted and one still on the sprue reads as Unbuilt, because the squad genuinely is not built yet. Move the last model along and the squad follows.

WIP stages

WIP covers a lot of ground, so a model in it also carries a stage: base coated, blocking, layering, washing, highlighting, detailing or basing. It is a finer reading of the same column, useful when half your shelf is "in progress" and you want to know which half is nearly done.

Painting sessions group their steps into phases — preparation, priming, shading, glazing and so on. Those are about the session's instructions, not about the model's stage; the two lists look similar and mean different things.

Hiding columns you do not use

If you never track "assembled" separately, hide the column. Assembled, Primed and Painted can each be hidden from the board's column list. Unbuilt and WIP cannot be hidden at all — between them they carry everything you have not finished.

Hiding a column changes only your board. Models in it are not moved or edited — they simply appear under the nearest visible column to their left, and reappear where they were if you turn the column back on.

Complete is a case of its own. It is not in that list — it has its own preference, "show completed miniatures". Turning that off removes the column outright instead of merging it: finished models are not folded under Painted, they are simply not drawn. They still count towards your stats, and the column returns the moment you switch it back on.
