Painting sessions
Starting a session, tracking steps across a squad, the timer, and how a session ends.
Starting one
A session is a stretch of actual painting against one or more of your models. You can start one from any unit that is Primed or already WIP — a model you started, abandoned and want to pick up again is exactly the case the second one covers.
When you start, you pick what drives the session: one of your colour schemes, a recipe, or a custom set of steps you write as you go.
Steps, and squads
A session is a list of steps — an area, a paint, a technique. Tick each one off as you finish it.
For a squad you can run the session over the whole unit or over specific models. Per-model sessions track each step separately for each model, which is what you want when you basecoat five and only get highlights onto two.
The timer
You can time your painting in slices — start when you sit down, stop when you get up. The slices add up to the session's total, which is where your hours-painted figure comes from.
The timer is optional. A session works perfectly well without it; you just will not get hours out of it.
How a session ends
Either you end it yourself, which is fine even if some steps are unticked — a partly finished session is still a real evening's work — or it ends by itself the moment the last step is ticked for every model it covers.
When a session completes the app offers you the end-of-session flow: mark the models painted, add a finish photo, and save what you actually used as a recipe while it is still fresh.
