The opposite discipline to the Skeletons: sickly flesh instead of clean bone, and deliberate mess instead of tidy edges. Nothing here needs to be neat, which makes it the best unit in the army to paint first.

Rotting flesh

  1. Basecoat the flesh Basecoat
  2. Shade it green All-over shade — Athonian Camoshade rather than a flesh wash — the green cast is what separates a corpse from a pale living man.
  3. Raise the taut skin Layer — Pallid Wych Flesh over ribs, shoulders and cheekbones, then Flayed One Flesh on those same points.

Wounds and gore

  1. Block the open wounds Detail
  2. Deepen them Recess shade
  3. Wet the worst of them Detail — Blood for the Blood God on two or three wounds per model, not on all of them — restraint is what keeps it convincing.
