Vampire Counts — Zombies
The opposite discipline to the Skeletons: sickly flesh instead of clean bone, and deliberate mess instead of tidy edges. Nothing here needs to be neat, which makes it the best unit in the army to paint first.
Rotting flesh
- Rakarth Flesh Citadel
- Athonian Camoshade Citadel
- Pallid Wych Flesh Citadel
- Flayed One Flesh Citadel
- Basecoat the flesh Basecoat
- Shade it green All-over shade — Athonian Camoshade rather than a flesh wash — the green cast is what separates a corpse from a pale living man.
- Raise the taut skin Layer — Pallid Wych Flesh over ribs, shoulders and cheekbones, then Flayed One Flesh on those same points.
Wounds and gore
- Khorne Red Citadel
- Carroburg Crimson Citadel
- Blood for the Blood God Citadel
- Block the open wounds Detail
- Deepen them Recess shade
- Wet the worst of them Detail — Blood for the Blood God on two or three wounds per model, not on all of them — restraint is what keeps it convincing.
Grave-rags
- Zandri Dust Citadel
- Steel Legion Drab Citadel
- Agrax Earthshade Citadel
- Karak Stone Citadel
- Basecoat the rags Basecoat — Vary the rags between models — grave clothes were not a uniform, and a zombie mob benefits from looking scavenged.
- Shade the cloth All-over shade
- Drybrush the torn hems Drybrush
Hair and nails
- Rhinox Hide Citadel
- Agrax Earthshade Citadel
- Screaming Skull Citadel
- Basecoat the hair Basecoat
- Shade it All-over shade
- Nails and teeth Detail
Improvised weapons
- Gorthor Brown Citadel
- Agrax Earthshade Citadel
- Leadbelcher Citadel
- Typhus Corrosion Citadel
- Ryza Rust Citadel
- Basecoat the wood Basecoat
- Shade it All-over shade
- Rusted iron Stipple
Base
- Stirland Mud Citadel
- Screaming Skull Citadel
- Abaddon Black Citadel
- Texture the base Texture
- Drybrush the grave earth Drybrush — Screaming Skull rather than a brown — it ties the base to the bone on the model above it.
- Rim the base Detail
