Colour schemes

Orc and Goblin Tribes — Night Goblin Mobs

Beginner · 6 areas

Almost entirely a black robe, which makes this an edge-highlighting exercise rather than a colour one — a wash does nothing on black and the model lives or dies on where the grey goes. Two spots of colour do the rest.

Black robe

  1. Basecoat the robe Basecoat — Abaddon Black over the whole robe. Skip the wash — there is nothing for it to do on black, and it flattens what you paint next.
  2. Lift the folds Layer — Eshin Grey along the top of each fold, well short of the edge.
  3. Edge the cloth Edge highlight — Dawnstone on the fold ridges and the hem, then Administratum Grey on the hood rim alone. Stop before it reads as grey cloth — the robe should still look black.

Face in the hood

  1. Basecoat the skin Basecoat
  2. Shade the hood shadow All-over shade — Let Biel-Tan Green pool where the hood overhangs — the face is supposed to be half in shadow.
  3. Catch the nose and brow Layer — Warboss Green on the nose and brow only. Everything deeper in the hood stays dark.

Eyes and teeth

  1. Red eyes Detail — Mephiston Red first, then a smaller dot of Evil Sunz Scarlet inside it. Two matched dots is the whole effect.
  2. Teeth Detail

Spear hafts and bows

  1. Basecoat the wood Basecoat
  2. Shade it All-over shade
  3. Highlight the haft Layer

Iron and moon glyph

  1. Spear tips and blades Detail
  2. Paint the moon Freehand — Ushabti Bone crescent on the shield or banner, tidied with Screaming Skull. It is the one bright shape on the model, so it is worth the second pass.

Base

  1. Texture the base Texture
  2. Drybrush the churned earth Drybrush
  3. Rim the base Detail
