What Peasant Levy looks like

Colour schemes

Grand Cathay — Peasant Levy

Beginner · 6 areas

The counterpoint to the Jade Warriors: undyed hemp, straw and one dyed garment per model. Deliberately a limited palette, which makes it a good place to practise making a cheap unit look intentional rather than unfinished.

Homespun hemp

  1. Basecoat the tunic Basecoat
  2. Shade the folds All-over shade
  3. Lift the cloth Layer

Straw hat and matting

  1. Basecoat the straw Basecoat
  2. Shade the weave Recess shade
  3. Drybrush the brim Drybrush — Tallarn Sand across the weave finds the texture and costs one pass over the whole unit.

One dyed garment

  1. Pick one colour per model Basecoat — A sash, a headscarf or one sleeve — red, blue or green, rotated between models. A levy that shares no uniform still needs the unit to read as one block, and a single repeated dye does that.
  2. Shade whichever you used All-over shade

Tools and improvised weapons

  1. Basecoat the wood Basecoat
  2. Shade it All-over shade
  3. Highlight the shaft Layer
  4. Iron blade or hook Detail

Skin

  1. Basecoat the flesh Basecoat
  2. Shade the features All-over shade
  3. Highlight Layer — Kislev Flesh on the brow and cheekbones, Flayed One Flesh on the nose bridge alone.

Base

  1. Texture the base Texture — Packed earth — the ground along the Great Bastion, not grass.
  2. Drybrush the dust Drybrush
  3. Rim the base Detail
